Here is a simple article describing Asperger's Syndrome" Wiki-Pedia Article on Asperger's Syndrome The Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - Fourth Edition (DSM-IV), a widely used manual often employed by mental health professionals in diagnosing mental illnesses, first published the criteria for Asperger's Syndrome in 1994. Prior to this publication in 1994, Asperger's Syndrome was not even included as an official diagnosis in this manual. Many individuals who may have had Asperger's prior to 1994, either did not get diagnosed or were mis-diagnosed by mental health professionals. The World Health Organization also now recongnizes Asperger's Syndrome as an official diagnosis. The awareness of Asperger's Syndrome continues to grow. However, much work still needs to be done.
